Time On My Side.

Journal Entry: Wed Jul 2, 2008, 2:11 PM
First of all my website has been through some aesthetic changes this week. So some of the content is missing, but I am working on that now. Please check it out, lemme know what you think.

Also I’m now available to accept commissions! Yep! Finished uni and my two exhibitions and im officially looking for work! Yay! So from graphic design to illustration, I can do it...I hope :8 I've given myself a one month deadline to be employed, although I have enough money to last me four months it’s best not to wait until the last minute. So I guess time is on my side.

Next I want to pay my respects to comic book legend Mike Turner and actor Don S.Davis, who both tragically died this week from serious illnesses.

Now on to some my favourite deviations at the moment.

The Bleach one has to be some sort of record...no?

So what am I working on this week? Well for once lots of things now that I have some more free time. Trying to get some more character design and concept art done to put in my portfolio as well as working on the next issue of 'The Summon'. The futures looking good.

Yay! My website is live! [link]

It's all working and stuff. Gotta iron out some kinks still. I designed it to be fairly simple so it can let the work do the talking. Also it allows me to work on it easily and update it on a more regular basis.

When ALL the content is up, i might snazz it up a bit. I was thinking about
having a chibi version of myself on each page but themed to match the work.
I don't know, maybe it will be all cute and shit.

So yeah have a looky and errmm...gimme a job.

Oh yeah P3 was great. Now im working on my portfolio for D&AD on wednesday. I saw a few things for this years D&AD on youtube and they look awesome. I can't wait to be there. I've got a feeling this video [link] is for D&AD too but i can't be certain. Anyway have a look at it...it's really cool (might wanna skip to 1min coz its just static before that...but i love static)

Suicide Note

Journal Entry: Thu Jun 19, 2008, 1:32 AM
Ok not really a suicide note but thats exactly how i feel right now. There is just under ten hours to go until the University Of Westminster 3rd Year Media, Arts & Design show... in which my work is being exhibited.

It's a fairly big event but it usually has very relaxed atmosphere, so i don't know why I'm so nervous about this evening. Maybe its because i don't feel confident about the work i've produced because i didn't get the kind of grade i was expecting for my final major project.

I wont rant about it too long, but i think its unfair for anyone who got over a 69 to be moaning about it. I should have got WAY over a 60, over 70 even. Instead i got a crumby 58 which has brought my overall grade DOWN to a 2.2.

Oh well...i don't know why im letting it get me down...none of it is relevant...i can still succeed because i know I'm good at what i do! Unlike lecturers...dA never lies.

Anyway heres [link] the website linked to the show, examples of all the work are on here plus details about it. Also its the first time EVER that my comic 'The Summon' and the 4 art cards will be on sale, i'm looking forward to seeing how that does.

Until tonight x

Postcards

Journal Entry: Thu Jun 5, 2008, 5:34 PM
After such an unusual day like the day i've had, it seems that the only thing to do now is update my journal and catch up on some well earned sleep.

The end of uni is getting SO close now! Im a bit nervous about making the jump to becoming a professional illustrator/designer but imup for the challenge. Also i can't wait to do something without having to provide all the other project crap like sketchbooks. I think it will give me a greater concerntration level and my work will hopefully improve in quality.

I'd like to say thank you to some people who have provided my work this week with lovely comments and encouragement. They are...

This weeks favourite finds:

Anyway so this week got my pixie dust out and came up with this...

Its a 4 postcard set for 'The Summon' and features a few things from the first volume the story. Hopefully it gives you a few clues about what you can expect to see in the comic in the next few issues. Might also convert it to a poster format, just for fun.

But before i get to work on finishing issue two, my plan for this week is to totally re-write and edit the script of issue 1. Im just not happy with it as it is, i don't feel the characters personalities are clear enough...although its only early and that sort of thing takes a little time. Also i'll be adding the colours, hopefully by wednesday as i've got to have it printed by then :-8

Making Progress

Journal Entry: Wed Mar 12, 2008, 4:16 PM
Work has begun on my major project at uni and i'm using it as chance to create my first comic book. However its going to be a mainly digital comic, playing with the narrative structure and the way the reader views a comic book/graphic novel. As i go, i'll be uploading the progress of my designs and illustrations of my story, which is simply titled 'The Summon'.

On a sadder note i didn't get through to the next round of the IDW Contest, i was beaten by some really good artists and i wish them good luck.

Journal Entry: Sat Jan 26, 2008, 5:48 PM
So voting has begun on the IDW Forums for 'The Next IDW Transformers Cover Artist'. Its like the X-factor or Amerian Idol of the comic book industry and thankfully Tara Banks is no where in sight.

Anyway i need anyone who visits my page to hop on over and vote for me at the following address.

[link]

and remember to vote for Doublecross #905 by Timothy Pugh aka Qwailo.

Finally i need to say a MASSIVE thank you to ACE COMICS of Colchester for their support. Please go visit their gorgeous new store or shop online at [link] Cheers guys.

And also thanks to Calamity Comics Of Harrow & Watford for their support too. Please visit John & the guys at their stores in Harrow Town Centre & The Watford High Street. Cheers.

Nearly There

Journal Entry: Mon Jan 21, 2008, 12:14 PM
Guys, guys, guys. I've abandoned dA over Xmas because of Uni work. But now the Bulk of my work is done im a little more focused on my artwork.

First of all...IDW. My favourite comic company ever and they've given readers the chance to have their work published on the cover of one of their Transformers: Spotlight issues. I can't believe it! Anyway voting for round one begins very soon and i need peoples vote. For instructions on how to vote, please see my Facebook group (Vote TIM PUGH for 'Next IDW Transformers Cover Artist'
[link]) I really want this!
Also i'll be uploading my piece for that contest on here as soon as i am allowed.

So im a bit behind on my personal work but im catching up. Should be uploading some new stuff this week as well as finishing my 'Comic Book Superheroes, Culture & Society' Dissertation and beginning my major project for uni, my first full comic book.

Journal Entry: Tue Dec 18, 2007, 5:13 PM
Hello my loyal fans...all 5 of you.

It seems that everyone and their dog are doing journal entries so i thought i might as well be a victim of digital-blog-culture too. Hell, why not? I mean, on a website like DA we are sharing more than just non-sense about our lives, we are sharing our inner-selves via visual form. So to back those visuals up with the occasional ramble, sounds like a good idea to me.

Anyhoo. To those that don't know me personally like Snazz84, kevmeister and asteroid--blues do...Hello! and thanks for watching. I've just uploaded my 40th deviation and so i've decided to start using the folders and featured system in my gallery to help clean the place up a bit. Recently i've been working on too many things, so a few have gone on the back shelf until next week.

However, heres what's going on this week...

-2 Heroes pieces on the go, both in colour.
-1 Transformers Movie piece depicting Jazz taking on Brawl & Blackout (brave dude our Jazz)
-A colour version of Leon No.2
-An Evangelion piece which i started years ago, new and old versions will be uploaded.

All of the above should be finished and uploaded by this time next week, probably along with more scraps & sketches.

Sadly my people, i am worried. Worried that when the new year comes and i return of the lands of Azeroth (Yes im talking about Warcraft and yes im a nerd) i shall lose precious deviation time and probably stop using this site...just like before. Hopefully not. We'll see.

I'll end this debut entry by saying merry christmas and thank you for all the nice comments on my work (especially sunstreaker). Oh and happy holidays to everyone at Seiberton.com, Ryan Yzquierdo & Jin Saotome
